Skunks

Every year in late summer we get the random and lovely whiff of skunks coming in our open windows at night. It only happens once or twice a week and only for a few weeks, so we put up with it and still keep the windows open. Well, last week we went to some friends house for dinner and their girls had actually had an encounter with some skunks in thier back yard the previous evening. No one had gotten sprayed, but the girls were terrified and proceeded to tell our kids all about it...several times. We didn't quite realize the impact this was having on Caleb until that night, he wouldn't go to sleep. He now has to sleep with a night light and won't go to bed until he's been reassured that there are no skunks in our house. Lovely! I don't think he even knows what a skunk is, but he's genuinely afraid of them.

Oh, that's gorgeous... maybe you could watch something so he relates them more to stinky cats than to under the bed monsters? Hope all is well!
