Our Summer Vacation

This is a little late, but I just haven't had the time to do justice to our summer family vacation! It was so great! We took almost two weeks and just had a fabulous time! Our first stop was in Las Vegas. Aaron had a boy scout campout that he was at, so the kids and I started out on Thursday without him and he met up with us the next day in Vegas. We went and stayed with our good friends the Fillmores from Tucson and met up with quite a few of our friends from Tucson. It was amazing to see all of them again and talk about what life has held the past few years and see how everyone's kids (and families) have grown!
Aaron drove up with his brother and sister on Friday and we flew out that afternoon to Kalispell, MO. We actually almost missed our flight because of adventures with trying to park the car, getting a parking ticket and getting through security. We made it with exactly a minute to spare before they closed the door on us (at least that's what they announced over the loud speaker as we were running to the terminal). Talk about stress! We met up with the rest of the Foxes (who drove) in Montana and drove over to Lake Ashley where Aaron's brother Jeff's in-laws own a cabin and had invited us all to stay (very brave of them, I have to say). We had a full week of wake boarding, boating, sitting in the spa tub and just all out relaxing...it was awesome! And of course, we did a little sight-seeing, we went to Glacier National Park and the kid's favorite part...the talent show. This was probably the most fun and relaxation I've had with our kids on any vacation we've taken. We all had a ball!
When we left the lake, Aaron and I and the kids rented a car and followed Jeff and Jocelyn up to their home in Calgary. We actually stayed at Jocelyn's parents house, which was again, very brave and very kind. The car ride to Calgary was actually pretty bad...we forgot the car charger to the DVD player, so there wasn't any entertainment for the kids, and then Caleb decided to start throwing up again and threw up all over the car...the girls loved that! But we got there and had a great couple of days. We went and saw Banff national park. The girls loved the castle hotel there and Lake Louise was beautiful! We went 5 pin bowling with Jeff and Jocelyn and the kids thought that was great! We had such a great time.
The day traveling home was a little crazy, we drove the 4 1/2 hours back to Kalispell, flew back to Las Vegas, and then hopped in our car again and drove the 3 1/2 hours home...yikes! But it all went as well as it could have and we were tired the next day, but recovered quickly. This was the kids first airplane ride that they can remember, so Kenzie and Jenna were thrilled to just be able to fly in an airplane. What a trip! Definitely one we'll remember for a long time!

The group from Tucson...my how I've missed these girls!

And here's our collection of children...at least the majority of them.

Kenzie and Brad on the airplane to Montana

Jenna and Caleb enjoying their first airplane flight...and us enjoying the fact that we didn't miss the flight.

Our first day at the lake
We spent so much time on the boat...it just seemed to fly by!

It seemed there was endless things to do...this was one of the favorites.
Here's Aaron, showing off again! j/k This was definitely right up his alley. Actually, mine too. Neither of us had ever wakeboarded on such glassy water. It was awesome!
Kenzie kneeboarding. We actually cooerced our kids into doing all kinds of stuff they didn't want to do. Kenzie got up on the skis...hated every minute of it, but she did it! They both liked the kneeboarding though.

Jenna, the queen of "I can do it myself", loved this! She and Kenzie both got up on the wakeboard with Aaron as well...they just propped themselves up on his legs, stood on the board and held on!
Us at Glacier National park...we are not superimposed, it really was this beautiful!
More at Glacier
Enjoying the view

Five pin bowling in Calgary. We had such a great time hanging out with Jeff, Jocelyn and Holly. We're sad it's so far away. Kenzie and Jenna keep asking when we're going to go back.
Jenna waiting for her bowling ball to make it to the end. It was a riot watching her bowl...half the time we weren't sure it was going to make it all the way it was going so slow!
I really think this was one of the most memorable parts of the trip for Kenzie. She loved the bowling!
Us at Banff National Park in Calgary. It rained a good portion of the afternoon the day we went, but we still had a great time!
This was the "castle hotel" that we went to in Banff. The girls thought they had died and gone to heaven...they were so excited. They kept asking if a princess lived there and I kept telling them that I didn't think so, but then there happened to be a girl getting married there! They were just enthralled and asked if they could stay for the ball! That has to be one of my favorite quotes from the trip.
Lake Louise, also near Banff
What am I supposed to do with a flower this big?
Again, not superimposed, just georgeous!Kenzie tried to catch a fish in the lake...and came pretty close!
And of course, Caleb's favorite part of the outing...the puddles!
